Medicine Storage Best Practices

Most medicines should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Heat and moisture can degrade active pharmaceutical ingredients over time, reducing a medicine’s effectiveness before its stated expiry date.

Always keep medicines in their original packaging, which typically contains critical information such as batch numbers, manufacturing dates and expiry dates. Keep all medicines out of reach of children and do not store them in bathrooms or kitchens where humidity is high.

Refrigeration is required only for specific formulations such as certain injectables or biologics — check the label or consult a qualified pharmacist. Storing medicines incorrectly can significantly reduce their effectiveness even within the expiry period.
